Suddenly the CSAT insect gear isn't so ridiculous... must admit, visually it's very underwhelming. Looks like a half assed GI JOE character.

Edit: On a side note. You'd think they could make more of an effort with their videos - straighten the guys helmet, chinstrap, and glasses out, so he doesn't look like an awkward teenager playing dress-up.

Tnak god it is only a vision and not a concept. A lot of people think all this sensory augmentation stuff is the future but as far as I know a they lately also recieve a lot of critic because they also kind of can cause some sensory overload for the normal soldiers. I think it will be more likely that different troop elements will just be connected much better in the future and that the true progress will be made with lighter and more flexible guns and new optics.

It wont matter. Infantry wont need to be technologically augmented with the future hanging over their heads:

no the idea will be that they mostly control themselves or are controlled by minimal objective/ROE based input. and the ones i have seen in documentaries would destroy current AA systems because of their size, they could fly right up to them under radar and deliver a payload. it was on a Future Weapons once. scary s**t :/

Might get to see that happen in Syria... sure a few Hi-tech toys might end up there...

Are they actually trying to sell these drones as conventional warfare equipment, though? They seem to be much more focused on "world policing" applications where a first-world nation decides that today they want to blow up somebody's house in Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc - ideally without having to bother with pesky things like the lack of popular support for manned missions, airspace violation issues and the high cost of flying large, heavy multirole fighters into another country just to blow up somebody's corrugated metal shack.

Also I wonder how the US would actually be able to afford all this new stuff in large numbers.
