The other rugby

So given that England's game against Uruguay is now pretty much a jumped up friendly, will anyone be watching the super league grand final instead?

As much as I love playing, I find union quite boring to watch compared to league.

Plus I've been a Wigan fan for 20+ years so I cant miss the final

Yeah union flows a little better as a player, but league has more tries, bigger hits, and the majority of the action isn't hidden in a scrum or ruck

You think? I played league during my teens back in the day - always felt it flowed much better than union - pacing and intensity was so much faster and smoother.

Yeah at lower levels at least, its easier to build momentum in union as you're not guaranteed to turn the ball over after 6 phases.

Agree that league is much quicker, but you also spend a fair chunk of the game retreating 10, make defense very stop start Imo.

Yea, fair point.

Think I'm just bias mate :P. League has a larger following in Aus..and most Aussies grow up either playing or watching it - with union only really getting attention during cup season.

Yeah, league is pretty much only played along a 100 mile corridor in the north. Its always been second fiddle to union, which is a shame as we are not as far behind the nrl as some Aussies seem to think, with a bit more investment it could make for some more interesting internationals.

Never really got into league, seems a bit too much stop start, like American Football to me

I wouldn't go that far. American football is 60 minutes of play stretched out over 4 hours lol

The only rugby I've ever watched and enjoyed was Seven's. I took some in during the Commonwealth games because they were hosted at Ibrox. I was pretty impressed by the speed, thefluid nature of the play and just the general sense of chaos.
