Principles of Combat

Three General Principles of Combat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txb6rUNhXzU)

Thought this brought in some good points. Just some stuff to note, don't waste your ammo, don't bring Javelins when ILAWS will be plenty. Don't place your marksman with the high powered scope in the same fireteam as the two MGs with no scopes at all. Notice where hostiles are headed and get in a position where you have a better view of their destination while they are retreating/running and not firing at you.

Also, he's from the UK, so I thought you guys might like that.

Your second example is actually incorrect, sorry.  If your LMG has no scope, then putting him with a Marksman is ideal.  The Marksman is there to assist with observation, and help adjust fire.  Best practice is to put your section Marksman buddied with the L7 (with its iron sights).

Effective range of the L129 = 800m, effective range of L7A2 = 800m.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity.

I have watches some videos from that guy in the past. He is usually entertaining but he is also not a historian in terms of a university degree or something similar. So he is a layman, but he also never claims to be a complete expert. A lot of his points are pretty speculative (which he usually also says). So everything he says should be taken with a good grain of salt.

We don't have two machine guns in a the same fireteam by default. Our default fireteams look like this.

Charlie
1. AT
2. SL
3. Marksman
4. LMG

Delta
5. AT / Engineer
6. Medic
7. FTL
8. LMG

Apart from that I think some people misunderstand the role of a mg a bit. You are not really supposed to give precise fire on those ranges. You are supposed to effectively shoot the area of the enemy. That does not mean you are aiming for specific body parts of individual enemies. This can be done very well with iron sights.  At least for me, this is also easier with iron sights. You get less tunnel vision and this makes me keep a better eye on the area I want to shoot.

Some of our members can confirm that I can be very effective like that. ;-)

By the sounds of it, this guy hasn't got an ounce of combat experience, or even had training. Don't know what gives him the ability to post a video on combat principles. Think he's living in his own loony land.

Not only that, his video made me want to kill myself.

Well he usually does videos about medieval or ancient history in which he theorizes about some aspects of combat. As far as I know he does or did HEMA and LARP, so some stuff is actually based on personally testing out things. I don't know why would would apply things from hand to hand combat to other areas of combat. It doesn't work like that.

There is no war to end all wars.
