Arma 3 Profile been deleted

I had a couple of issues today with an arma crash and a small hiccup with an update to the repository.

This has resulted in losing all my load outs from the Arsenal.  However the strangest issue is that when I copy a backup of the Arma 3 - other profiles which is a full set from a couple of months ago it remains the same with no load outs having been restored.  I also noticed that my KOH saves have also disappeared and am back to square one.  I have no idea what happened and no amount of copying and pasting seems to rectify it.  I was under the impression that the load outs were saved in the profile file in documents with the .vars extension.

Grateful for some help and some idea of what I may have done wrong!!

Now have an additional problem When Syncing Arma 3 with the repository it looks like it wants to delete all the files in my mod folder some 3056 !!

I JUST LOVE ARMA  - IT AND 'PUTER GETTING EVER SO CLOSE TO WINDOW AND BIN.

There was a thing on Armaholic a little while ago about a virus which deleted Arma3 profiles.  If I remember rightly the virus was installed through extreme porn sites.  It might be worth googling to see what the recovery would be.  I think the recommendation was some expensive anti-porn malware cleaner.  Failing that bin the hard drive (but do it quick before the details are passed from the FBI to Interpol or something).  Happy to help.:up:

Can you give some more details on how your setup is?
ie. if you have moved your documents folder, windows might reuse the original path if it could not access the new path for any reason...
and iirc KotH does not store anything in the local appdata and only uses your profile, so it should have worked when you restored your backup, so my best guess is that arma is actually using a different profile somewhere you dont expect

Guys Many thanks for the info and possible causes.  Am up North at a wedding so will try when I get back next week.  Dont think it is the virus as never visited those sites and I am only one with access to computer, but will do a thorough check just in case as you do get crap email re scams and sites etc.
