He said he wasn't going to SLI. I think the 750w could handle that setup.

Thinking about it, I might go SLI in the future and the idea of this build was to future proof me (the more I spend now, the less I'll have to spend in the future) so it might be best to get a more powerful PSU. Should I go for the Corsair 850w or the 1000w? Will I really need 1000w? I will probably be OC'ing the CPU and GPU.

On Amazon it looks like only a £20 difference, is it worth it?

My Corsair 1000w has lasted me over 5 years now. They are good PSUs. I don't think you could use up 1000w PSU with that spec PC but if you really want to be safe for future proof then you could get it for the hell of it. Would be a waste now though with the current spec.

Thanks for the info lads. I think I'll just go all out and go for the 1000w just to have the extra headroom. This is also what swayed me:

1) SLI and Crossfire on a higher-end GPU. Throw in overclocking too.

2) Overclocking a CPU.

3) Lots of hard drives, fans, and other power-requiring devices.

4) Extra headroom allows for the possibility of adding more devices in the future.

5) Combine the four above and suddenly a 1000W PSU isn't overkill anymore.

6) A PSU's efficiency peaks around 50% utilization. So even if you're not going to use the full 1000W, it's good to have at least efficiency. See Corsair's AX1200's efficiency curve: http://www.corsair.com/media//ax1200-efficiency.png

7) A PSU's capacity and efficiency degrades over time. So over time, your 1000W PSU doesn't deliver the same power as it used to when new. It is always good to have that extra headroom.

Haha yeah will do Ninja. I've never built a PC before so it'll feel like I'm playing Operation.

All I can think of when I see this rig is:
Damn right, it's better than mine. Damn right, it's better than mine :(

Oh and get an anti static bracelet. Install the PSU and plug it into the wall but for the love of God DONT SWITCH IT ON. Clip the bracket to one of the screws that holds the PSU in the case and you should be grounded. Or just clip it to something that's grounded. Like Becky. That'll work
Have never worn a bracelet, have never killed a component.
Common sense of not wearing clothes that create a lot of static electricity and shorting yourself to grounding before toying around with components is a must.

Same here. I've built 10's of PC's over the years and have never worn an anti-static bracelet or killed a component. Not to say that it isn't a good idea if you have extra dosh to throw around.
I do always ground myself by touching something, um grounded, after having moved around and before picking up the bits though.
If you install the PSU first into the case, plug it in (but NOT switched on!!), then grabbing the case also grounds you well enough.

Entirely agree. Built many a machine without an anti-static bracelet. Just don't work on the PC while rubbing your hair with a balloon and you should be fine.
