Remember that BI have started working on the underlying sound system in vanilla, too. Some really really cool features like stereo emitters, distance-dependent-sounds, custom attenuation curves and stuff like that will be making their way into the game over the next few months. With that in mind, there's not much point in putting too much effort into complex scripted sound systems (like ES or JSRS) since they're about to be made redundant by better and faster in-engine solutions. In addition to that we can expect the entire game to be re-mixed once those engine changes are implemented.

Well Jarhead has already stated that he is waiting for the BIS sound work to hit before he continues work on JSRS as he thinks that they are doing good work.

So far what i've experienced:

I'm not sure if it's the map or not but the frames seem abit naff today i tried it with and without DS maybe 4 frames different.
We tested alot of stuff out on the range and out in the field (will sort the vid out later) pretty much all the weapons i used and everyone else used was ok but one of the weapons i used the MK48 when its in full auto im hearing it fire twice ( ithink i have a recording or that if needed will have to check).
Been on the server since about half 2ish finished about 6ish no errors popping up on my screen or anything.

All in all it sounds amazing and works pretty well for the most part but my frames being we will have to check it on another map or something.

EDIT: Anyone who loves explosions you will most likely get a semi.

Some first feedback from me.

Technical side:
- So far I did not encounter any sort of fps or desync issues with the mod on the pub.

Sound side:
- Like it so far.
- All sort of explosions that now sound different, but not too different. In my opinion they are less hollywood'esqe and probably more realistic as what other mods like JSRS offers.
- Passing bullets and bullet cracks sound now a bit more "precise" and have also a bit more power behind it. However it also does not go into full JSRS mode which I appreciate. So far it also feels like you can figure out a tad faster from which general direction you are getting shot from.

There is no war to end all wars.

Related: JSRS3 Dragonfyre just got updated, and claims MP support, zero scripting, and RPT errors fixed among others. Not yet checked.

Well worth trying out to see if it performs as claimed.

Yes Nick, take a look and let us know what you think.

Key features for us:
- optional for players (and therefore probably isn't required to run on the server either)
- no effect on the server or other clients performance due to players using it
- bikey'd
- minimal error generation

In the past JSRS has not met all of these criteria (mainly #2) so it will be interesting to hear whether that has changed.

Just let me know how you want it tested, and I'll happily put a while into doing so :)

Done a quick RPT of JSRS latest and emailed to Serjames.

Ran on local host using MCC sandbox.

Requires testing on a server with multiple player if someone can organise this?
