Marksman DLC pre order

To be honest, I'm much more excited about "magazineGroup" than I am about the actual deployment. I haven't tested the newest tweaks, but as of 1.5 weeks ago, it was still a bit clunky.
The inventory system for bipods is obviusly pretty sweet, as is having a 'deploy' animation source...but the gap between 'resting' (passive boost) and 'deployment' is a bit too large.

Resting is what happens when you're standing near a hesco/crouching near a stone wall/etc. Sadly there's not really any feedback (except for a change in crosshair...which we don't have on anway).
With resting, you're still turning around the player, just like when you're walking or using the AGM resting feature.

Deploying is the actual 'place gun down and pivot around rest point' thing. You will pivot around the front of the gun/bipod and you can't move without un-deploying.
Weirdly enough, you can still deploy a gun without a bipod. It apparently gives less of an advantage? It's supposed to simulate e.g. propping a weapon up against sandbags.

Deploying is great if you're e.g. an MMG setting up to defend or a sniper lining up a shot slowly, but for 'normal' combat, where I'm moving and firing, I want to see a 'resting' system that's more like what @AGM had.
I'm also not sure I like the idea of 'deploying' and changing the pivot point without a bipod....
Hopefully ACE3, which is set to have its first relase soon after the DLC, will improve on/add onto the resting feature.

  • Added: Stance indicator for resting and deployment (also not shown in 3rd person)
Finally they have seen the light xD

Haven't tested this yet -- and won't actually be able to until the DLC makes it to stable branch :( but I'm guessing this should remove a lot of my issues with the resting system :)

It is actually better as RO's system.

There is no war to end all wars.

No, the premium content ie the stuff you pay for is additional weapons and some of the bonus missions.  You still get weapon resting without buying it.  Their not EA.

Restricted in terms of you cant get them yourself. I still think you can drop them off the ground if you dont own it.

It's really impressive how quickly they went from a clunky and horrible system to the really smooth implementation that they released!

I have to agree it is quite a beautiful thing. Makes bounding from wall to wall even more important.
