Patrol Ops 3

Patrol Ops is a mission not a mod pack if that's what you're saying it is? Just needs virtual arsenal added and a couple of scripts removed maybe and wouldn't it be good to go ?

You would have to edit the enemy faction, unless you want to play against CSAT. You probably also have to kick some scripts out that manage gameplay and some of the mission in the old patrol ops were boring or unbalanced as hell. Those edits are all possible, but it is of course some work.

We have used this in the past. Both Apollo and myself have messed with it at various times.

Major issue with it is that it's not very 3CB friendly.. In that to get it to run with our Units, our base, our Whitelists, our scripts basically means re-coding the whole bloody thing from scratch.

It's a VERY clever mission, but unless someone wants to spend a month integrating it to a 3CB setup I doubt it would get loaded on the public.

I've not played with it for some time - so it may be more modular now, but I remember it was a nightmare to try and tweak when I had a go.

It's relatively "proscriptive" i.e. much less open sandbox that the style of missions we currently run. Basically by scripting everything just like Benzy rightly points out.

It's also really designed for a Vanilla vs Vanilla forces.

Scripted loadouts based on role selection, scripted objectives - which means it's not terribly easy to port across non Vanilla maps, Scripted Ai spawns etc.

I will definitely have a look ! But no promises :-)

A clan where I have some friends tried to make a version for their modserver and dear god what they had to edit.

They started by removing all the scripts that would be used in the normal base, which is a lot.
They kicked out the entire squad management and role permission (like pilot, tanks etc) thing.
They had to fine tune every single mission to a custom OPFOR faction, meaning they had to decrease or increase the numbers etc.

They ended up using a insurgency AlivE template and managed to only copy the tasker to it, sho it would assign those missions. Of course they still had to edit a lot of things, but at least they did not had to bother with the base and the entire squad management thing.

PS: As far as I know Bornholm is not on the approved map list anymore

I converted Patrol Ops 3 (Altis) for 3CB and we played it for several months on the public server, sometime around July-Sept last year I think, perhaps a little earlier.
I also made a version of BMR Insurgency (Takistan) for us too.

Patrol Ops is script heavy and time-consuming to convert as others have said. To be honest, the task generation is nice, but the mission feels relatively sterile after the dynamic and fully populated world created by Alive so I was happy to junk it. It's a shame Dom's task generator never got fully finished as that would have been excellent when added to our Alive missions... hint hint ;-)

We removed Bornholm because ALiVE doesn't support it, but also because it's extremely hard on frames (too much vegetation). Shame really, it's a nice map.

Even TvT didn't look like it would work on Bornholm because some people would need to turn off all grass just to get semi-playable frames.

I would suggest you leabe Bornholm for a while. Right now it is not in our approved map list.
