so Orange (carrier) is a part of Aircraft DLC ?

No, I don't think this is orange, I think it's just part of Jets. Although I have only skimmed the articles.

I thought it was but now I've done some more looking it does look like jets DLC rather than orange even though we still have no idea about the specifics of it

It looks like jets dlc to me too.

We were hoping that if the carrier speculation was correct that it would also mean moveable ships being added to the game engine, but as that appears not to be the case, it will still be nice to get reliable floating landing platforms, and from a techy point of view, presumably an increase in the overall size of allowable object dimensions which has hampered the implementation of big ships up to now.

The carrier will be part of the free platform upgrade rolled out with the DLC, meaning you won't have to own Jets DLC to use it!

I guess it's effectively 'just' a building so anyone can stand on it. But if you don't buy the dlc you probably won't have access to a jet that can be catapult launched from it.

Ah, I really hope it's an actual functional vessel, rather than the carrier from ArmA 2 which was effectively a building shaped like a Nimitz.

Fingers crossed it's not just an object, and actually works. I could see multiple projects from people trying to make a QE class. Would be fantastic.
