Mike, I will help with the weapon, ammo config's and scripting (where i can).

Edit: I have the config for the 82mm mortar so i can convert that for use with the new mortar.

Sounds like a very interesting and ambitious project that will fit nicely into 3CB.

I can see that Howl is already working on the 3D models (looking forward to see those) and I'd also like to help out in this area if possible.

Looking forward to seeing this mod progress.

Your maths is correct assuming the mortar and target are at the same altitude.

Handy little calculator here for future reference:
http://www.convertalot.com/ballistic_trajectory_calculator.html

Acceleration due to gravity varies depending upon altitude, varying from 9.78 to 9.82ms-2 on earth. Don't worry about it, just use 9.81.

Drag is quite difficult to model correctly because of varying air pressure, temperature, humidity. Try putting it in, but set your mortar shell config "airFriction" to zero for tests without drag.

Don't forget to add an aiming error coefficient to give the rounds some inaccuracy - I'm presuming in rl a mortar strike isn't bang on the same spot from the word go and there will be a spread.

you may have to set it up as a backpack for the moment till someone works out how to get that launcher slot used like it was in ACE

p.s. Looking at the model it looks very detailed, we've not gone overboard with faces have we? I think for a weapon 10000 was the recommended max ? Can someone more knowledgable advise ?

Suggest for simplicity's sake to use the default bis mortar sound ? Will make the mod smaller surely if we just call the sound using the config ?

I'm gonna park this, because this is as far as I can go without having my machine for testing....Got some interesting Photo's from my Parents place in Greece - BIS really nailed Altis and Stratis!

Πώς είναι ο καιρός εκεί; Ελπίζω να περνάτε καλά!

And yeah from the two configs i would have to play around with them to see which one would be better to use in practise ie the 40mm or the 82mm. I will look at it soon and talk to you when you get back, i am currently doing the uniform config for 3cb so i want to get that finished first.
