I thought we already had the merlin on the server anyway, but the ghost hawk is still there because it is armed whereas the merlin currently isn't.

On the map we have running right now, there is no merlin. However it can be acquired over one of the tasks that are active on the mission.

The littlebird aka hummingbird is nice to have, because it is very small and you can pull of things with it, that you cant get done with biger helicopters.

As said by others already, it is not a easy thing to bring in new vehicles on the maps. The biggest concerns are stability and actual quality,

In the Mod Team we are working on adding a few helicopters. We have the ported helicopters from Arma 2 (Apache, Merlin, Wildcats, Chinooks, and a Puma) and are in the process of adding new features (TFAR, HUD Displays, Sling Loading, Rope deployment) and textures. Having access to these models means that we can potentially add the L7A2 to the rear of the Merlin ramp, and possibly to the side doors. Bear with us.
