Personally from a command point I think SLs and FTLs will be best. Reinforcements should be using radios to regroup. If we need to it might be a good idea to start using map markers to place regroup points on 1-0 (etc) to allow coordination of reinforcements, but giving everyone an android will be chaos on the tracker.
I think that is an excellent work around solution to the reinforcement problem. The mission commander will have to bear in mind the flow of battle and update the RV to be in short range radio distance so section members can contact their SL to regroup.

Check this on the pubbie where more people are using the androids etc. Only the SL (and maybe FTL?) get a larger marker, the squaddies get a tiny unitmarker with a number that's only visible if you zoom in on the section.

I would agree with section commanders only having the android if:
- the screen for the android would be bigger
- You could place down salute reports with it.

I think section commanders need to be able to only to communicate the position of enemy positions/units, but also be able to mark them down on the CTAB.

There is no war to end all wars.

Ctrl + H made it fairly big for me :). Took up a large portion of the screen that way.

As for who gets what... not sure I can weigh into this as last night was my first experience with it. Nevertheless, if anything it forces the FTL's to take more of a role when it comes awareness and reporting friendly locations down the line to the section (while the SL focuses on the larger picture).

Yeah nevermind my last post. Thought it was like in a previous version where it wasnt possible to zoom with the android and place down salute reports.

Beside that some minor info:

Android weight: 0.23kg
Tablet weight: 2.54kg

You can access the normal GPS when the tablet or the android is in the slot of the gps.
You can use the tablet and the android without them having to be in the gps slot.
You can not access the gps when the tablet or android are not in a gps slot.

After the Op last night, I'd say all marines should get the most basic device. There was no way of knowing where other squads were as there are now no markers on the normal map, we couldn't put down contact reports, and if an SL or FTL was hit and unrecoverable, we could not coordinate anything.

Our experience of using them on the 15meu recce training where everyone was issued with at least an android was pretty straightforward.

Only the leaders are flag marked with 'grunts' showing up as little blue dots.

It's like a shacktac hud built into your gps and doesn't really clutter the display.

15meu use both systems we've discussed.

Regular infantry: Coy/Troop have tab. SL and FTL have android. Rest have nothing.
Force Recon: SL has tab, everyone else had android.

I think it would work whatever we decide and comes down to personal preference.

Would only SL and FTL having an android give people more of an incentive to fill command slots?

I think We may have to compromise to assist gameplay as Evrik suggests

The android can place salute markers, the microdagr on the other hand can not.

But does the microdagr display markers placed in ctab?

If so, that is the happy medium between both systems.
